Markieff Morris is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) who plays the role of Power Forward. He had an impressive start to his professional career after being selected for the NBA Draft in 2011, earning himself an additional spot as the team’s top starting forward. Since drafting with the Phoenix Suns, Markie has maintained an impressive game record with a few serious ones due to injury and other reasons. Here is more about his biography/career and family life.

Markieff Morris ‘Bio

The NBA star was born Virgo on September 2, 1989, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was also raised by his parents alongside his brothers.

Markieff Morris started playing basketball quite early in his life and started playing the sport competitively with his teammates in Prep Charter (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and APEX Academy (Pennsauken, New Jersey). After proving himself as a young player, Rivals.com considered him a four-star recruit, just as he was also ranked as the No. 49 player and No. 17 forward in the country in 2008.

After high school, he proceeded to the University of Kansas to study American Studies from 2008 to 2011 and at the same time play basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team. At the end of his junior season, Markieff Morris was picked a fifth team all-American by Fox Sports. He played in a total of 10 games of which he started 43, of those, the Jayhawks enforcer recorded a total of 6.1 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 13.6 points per game.

In the 2011 NBA draft, Markie was selected by the Phoenix Suns as the 13th overall pick in the draft. He initially signed a four-year rookie contract that kept him with the Suns until the 2014 season, after which he signed another multi-year contract extension with the Talking Stick Resort Arena team. Morris’ new contract is reportedly $32 million for four years, bringing his average salary to $8 million.

Two seasons into his new contract, the Philadelphia-born Baller saw himself at the Phoenix Suns’ exit door; Reportedly, it was probably a misdemeanor that he hurt himself in the management of the team, in addition to his average performance in the league at the time. Markieff along with his brother and a few others were charged with beating Erik Hood outside of a high school basketball game in January 2015. He was later acquitted of the charge, however.

The Suns traded him on Feb. 18, 2016, to the Washington Wizards for Kris Humphries, DeJuan Blair and Georgios Papagiannis (a 2016 top-9 protected first-round pick). Markieff has returned to impressive form recording a few career highs. The University of Kansas prodigy, who seems prone to putting in long hours on a team, has reportedly said he’d like to end his career with the Wizards. Perhaps if the team management considers him a good choice for their plans for the coming seasons, Markieff Morris will probably start his career at the DC club.

Markie so far on both teams he has played for him totaling 5.6 rebounds, 0.6 blocks and 11.9 points per game. The player is still very active in the league and with more playing time he will likely increase his career stats.

Injury

Markieff Morris is a player who has had a relatively injury free career, he has not been known to be injury prone and for most of his career he has always been available to do his job for his team on the B-ball field. Nevertheless, he suffered a sports hernia at the end of 2017, which required him to undergo surgery to repair the injury. As a result, the player was ruled out of the NBA game on September 22, 2017, but made a comeback on March 13, 2018 in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Who are the wife, grief and family members?

Markieff Morris was born as the son of Thomasine “Angel” Morris who also has three other sons named Donte, Blake, David. Markie was born as a twin with his brother Marcus who came 7 minutes after him. There is no trace of their father’s identity and his identity in the lives of his children.

Just like his brother, Marcus is also an NBA star who was picked 14th overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2011 NBA Draft. He then played for the Phoenix Suns (2013-2015 with his brother), the Detroit Pistons (2015-2017) and has currently been with the Boston Celtics since 2017.

Former twin Morris is married to TherezaWright-Morris with whom he shares a daughter named Jyzelle. She was born in the month of September 2017. On the other hand, Marcus also has a child. His girlfriend, Amber Soulds, had a son, Marcus Thomas Morris, Jr. on July 20, 2018.
